Alejandro Tosti of Argentina applies sunscreen

Alejandro Tosti’s caddie walked off the course during the first round of the Biltmore Championship Asheville.

The 30-year-old Argentine golfer was competing at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Asheville, North Carolina.

He was on the 18th hole -- his ninth of the day alongside playing partners Luke Clanton and Spencer Oxendin -- when Cliff Ellis dropped the bag, took off his bib and left.

“He couldn’t keep up with eight pars in a row,” Tosti joked when asked for comment by Golf Week.

Tosti was blemish free through 11 holes and carded a 1-over 72 chasing a share of the $5 million purse.

The PGA Tour golfer has previous and reportedly swore at then-caddie Ray Yoel during a Korn Ferry Tour event in 2023.

Unsurprisingly, he has had a few men on his bag over the years.

Tosti was suspended during the Korn Ferry Tour playoffs in 2023 for conduct unbecoming a professional after “expletive-filled outbursts” at rival players and officials.

A veteran told Golfweek: “I asked him one morning at breakfast, 'Why are you such a jerk?'

"He said, ‘I’m only a jerk Thursday through Sunday. That’s my chance to make money and I don’t like anyone getting in the way of me getting my money.’”

Tosti admits he can let his emotions get the better of him and reportedly thought his caddie was using the bathroom.

A new caddie will need to be found before Friday's round, hopefully with thick skin.

PGA Tour will have relegation in 2028

After the 2027 season, the PGA Tour will have a brand new look with a Championship Series and second-tier Challenger Series.

It might spell the end for Tiger Woods, who can only apply for an exemption if he plays in at least 15 events next season.

"I think Tiger might be SOL. There ain't no chance Tiger's playing 15 or more events in 2027," Golf Insider's Dan Rapaport said.

"I don't think that Tiger would be eligible to play in, I don't really see a path to him playing in the Championship Series in 2028.

"There's no chance in hell he plays 15 events in 2027. So I guess, I mean, Tiger might be finished playing the top-level PGA Tour events."

Woods himself helped bring in the changes, but always has TGL and the senior tour if he gets the itch.
