Todd Monken fired back at Mike Tomlin for comments he made last after coaching the Cleveland Browns to a 23-19 road upset over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Monken began his head coaching career with the Browns, accepting the job earlier this year. He embraced the responsibility of helping the Browns return to winning games while leading them throughout the rebuild.

It started rough as Cleveland suffered a 34-10 blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the opener. This resulted in Tomlin saying “Browns gonna Browns” after their struggles to start the season. Monken remembered those comments, responding with an expletive after Cleveland pulled off the upset over Tampa Bay in Week 2.

“Browns is the Browns — F*** that!” Monken exclaimed, per reporter Mary Kay Cabot.

How Todd Monken, Browns performed against Buccaneers

Todd Monken proved that he has the capability of coaching the Browns to a higher standard. Their 23-19 win over the Buccaneers presented a positive sign for fans to look forward to in the long term. As for Mike Tomlin, he certainly heard it following Monken's expletive remarks.

Tampa Bay had the upper hand throughout parts of the first half, leading 9-6 at halftime. However, they were unable to ignite a scoring run as Cleveland took advantage of the hosts' mistakes. The Browns ultimately outscored the Buccaneers 17-10 in the last 30 minutes of regulation.

Watson arguably had his best performance for the Browns to date amid all the injuries. He completed 24 out of 30 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns while rushing seven times for 22 yards.

Boston led the receiving corps with five catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Harold Fannin Jr. made five receptions for 54 yards, KC Concepcion had five catches for 28 yards, while Blake Whiteheart caught a 17-yard touchdown.

The Browns will look forward to their next matchup, being at home. They host the Carolina Panthers in Week 3 as kickoff commences on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. ET.
