The Denver Broncos trailed San Francisco 10-6 entering the fourth quarter on a day when the injury list got longer for coach Sean Payton's team, including a scary non-contact injury to Patrick Surtain II. Denver entered the game without OLB Dondrea Tilman, and picked up another rough injury as receiver Pat Bryant was hurt.

A tough scene unfolded as the former Illinois and current Broncos wideout was carted off the field.

“Teammates were all loving on Bryant as he got onto the cart, unable to put any weight on his right leg,” Nick Kosmider of The Athletic wrote. “Bryant had his head in his hands for a moment as the cart made its way into the tunnel.”

Bryant has had a strong season as a favorite target of QB Bo Nix even though he admitted to flopping in an effort sell a past interference call last week. Payton stressed the importance of starting early on the scoreboard and the Broncos did it in Week 4, jumping out to a 3-0 lead.

Bryant looked healthy in the early going as he led his team in receiving yards with 47 when he left the game. The 49ers continued to fight for field position as they threatened to score early in the fourth quarter while Bryant watched.

The Broncos came into Week 4 with a 2-1 record against a 3-0 49ers team that has looked like the class of the NFC at times. Bryant was listed as questionable to return according to Susie Wargin as the Broncos continued to fight in an effort to hold off the hometown 49ers.
