The Denver Broncos opened the 2026 NFL season on Monday Night Football. Unfortunately, Bo Nix and his teammates turned in anything but a primetime performance. Denver lost their Week 1 contest to the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 31-10.
Denver's offense was rough across the board. The Broncos fell short of 200 yards of offense as a team on Monday night. Meanwhile, the Chiefs were able to do about whatever they wanted. It was not Denver's night in the slightest.
After the game, Nix was asked about offensive coordinator Davis Webb. This was Webb's first game as Denver's offensive play-caller. His quarterback went to bat for him following the loss to the Chiefs.
âÂÂThe players did not make it easy on him today. Pretty pitiful, actually,â the Broncos star said.

Kenneth Walker III had a marvelous debut for Kansas City on Monday. He racked up 173 yards on 23 carries. He had two touchdowns on the night, one each through the air and on the ground.
The Broncos certainly hoped for a better start than this. Denver is coming off a trip to the AFC Championship Game. They fell to the New England Patriots in that contest. But they believe they have the pieces to contend again in 2026.
Denver will look to put this loss behind them on September 20 when they take on Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.
