Despite Bo Nix's struggles this season, Broncos coach Sean Payton made clear he wasn't going to be bench the quarterback. On Sunday, Nix repaid that faith by leading the Broncos to a 30-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Nix finished with 222 passing yards, his second-highest total of the season, along with one touchdown. However, more noteworthy was his 73 rushing yards, which included a 62-yard touchdown run.
Nix has faced doubts about his athleticism, especially after undergoing ankle surgery late last season. But he was glad he was finally able to put those doubts to rest with his long touchdown run.
“That's just part of it, I guess. Until people see it, they never really believe you,” Nix said in his post-game presser.
Article Continues BelowNix has been quite an effective runner ever since coming into the league. He's rushed for 786 yards with nine total touchdowns in his first two seasons. However, his numbers have gone down significantly this year. Heading into Week 7, he had rushed just 22 times for 37 yards with one touchdown. But as he showed with his 62-yard run, he is still physically able to go out and make plays with his legs after his surgery.
It's a promising development for the Broncos that amid question marks about him, Nix is showing signs of improvement, particularly with his legs. They will need Nix back to his best in order to keep pace with the Kansas City Chiefs atop the AFC West. Speaking of the Chiefs, Nix and the Broncos will host them at Empower Field at Mile High next Sunday.
