MLB free agency is underway, and the Milwaukee Brewers will have some decisions to make after winning the World Series. On Monday, the franchise already made a decision regarding William Contreras, as he'll be rejoining the organization in 2027 after his club option was picked up.

Reports indicate that the Brewers picked up the 28-year-old's $15.5 million club option for next season, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports. Nightengale also claims that the front office likely wants to negotiate a new contract extension with Contreras at some point in the offseason.

“The Milwaukee Brewers, who would love to sign World Series MVP William Contreras to a contract extension this winter, pick up his $15.5 million club option for 2027,” Nightengale reported.

Contreras played a key role in helping the Brewers win the title this season. On top of his consistent offense, recording eight hits, four RBIs, and a .381 batting average, the seven-year veteran also proved to be just as dominant on defense. He threw out four opponents attempting to steal bases and won 10 of his 11 ABS pitching challenges.

While the World Series MVP is bound to get a big contract, potentially this offseason, the Brewers still have plenty of decisions to make regarding the remainder of the roster. On the same day announcing Contreras' club option being picked up, Milwaukee also announced final decisions for catcher Gary Sanchez, first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers, outfielder Akil Badoo, and pitchers Antonio Senzatel, Dustin May, Bryse Wilson, and Jared Koenig.
