After taking the field against the Cincinnati Reds on an otherwise unassuming Wednesday night, disaster struck the Los Angeles Dodgers when Blake Snell went to the dugout after the first inning and never returned to the mound, turning the proceedings into an impromptu bullpen game mere hours before Dave Roberts had another on the books.

Discussing how he felt and why his evening came to such a premature ending in Ohio, Snell revealed that he felt something grab during his bullpen session and wanted to play things safe after it didn't improve during the first inning.

“Yeah, I felt good all day, and then the second-to-last pitch of the bullpen I threw a slider and then I felt like it grabbed. So I was like, alright, let's see what we can do. I threw one more pitch, then went out to get to the dugout. And then I was warming up, and I was like, it just doesn't feel that great,” Snell explained.

“So I was like, we'll see if we can get through. And then I was just kind of talking with myself throughout that first inning. And I was going to try to get through five, but I just knew I didn't really have a good shot at doing that and remaining healthy. So after the first inning, I went down and talked with Dave, Mark, Thomas, and that's what we thought was best.  But no, yeah, I'll be, see where I'm at day to day, but yeah, I should be good.”
