Week 6 of fantasy football saw a lot of standout performances from key players. However, there were some top picks who saw their performance sharply decline. Let's take a look at which of these busts in Week 6 are simply bad beats that are one-off occurrences and shouldn't happen again this season.
(Projected fantasy points are from the Sleeper fantasy football website.)
Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons
Projected FPTS: 21.5 | Week 6 FPTS: 7.3
Robinson was one of the top draft picks in this year's fantasy football leagues, and he has delivered for his fantasy managers more often than not. However, his Week 6 performance was one to forget. Robinson logged 7.3 fantasy points after recording 61 rushing yards and two catches for -8 yards. It was his lowest fantasy output by far.
However, managers don't need to panic about Robinson's fantasy value. With the Falcons going down by two scores early in the game, Atlanta had to lean more on their passing attack. Robinson's 61 rushing yards also came on just nine carries, showing that he was still efficient when the ball was in his hands. The 49ers are a tough matchup for running backs this season, but as long as the game doesn't get out of hand quickly, Robinson should be back in action.
Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens
Projected FPTS: 17.9 | Week 6 FPTS: 5
Henry has been an ageless wonder this season, rattling off consistent production for fantasy football managers. He didn't record a single-digit fantasy performance in his first five weeks of the season. However, against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6, Henry was stifled. He recorded just 58 rushing yards, one catch for two yards, and a fumble for just five points in the game.
That being said, this game is most likely just an outlier. Divisional games are always trickier than usual, after all. Henry should bounce right back against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6.
AJ Brown, New England Patriots
Projected FPTS: 14 | Week 6 FPTS: 5.7
Brown's much-anticipated return to action after an injury in Week 1 was rather disappointing for fantasy football managers. The Patriots wide receiver recorded just 5.7 fantasy points after catching three passes for 27 yards. Despite Drake Maye's improved performance before Week 6, Brown still struggled to produce meaningfully in fantasy football.
However, there's a lot of reason to believe that Brown will bounce back. Usually a sure-handed receiver, Brown's three catches came on a whopping ten targets. It's reasonable to believe that in due time, Brown and Maye will find their chemistry on the field. They will take on the Chicago Bears in Week 7.
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Projected FPTS: 17.7 | Week 6 FPTS: 10.5
Article Continues BelowThe Patrick Mahomes experience is back in full force this season. After a torn ACL last season, Mahomes has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league again this season. However, he put up a dud in fantasy football this week; Mahomes had just 10.5 points despite throwing for 272 yards and an interception. That's thanks in large part to the interception he threw in the game.
That being said, there's no need to worry about Mahomes' game. An early lead for the Chiefs led to more reliance on Kenneth Walker II, and Mahomes is one of the better quarterbacks at preventing turnovers. He should still be a consistent QB1 threat in fantasy football this season.
Denzel Boston, Cleveland Browns
Projected FPTS: 11 | Week 6 FPTS: 2.5
No one really expected a Cleveland Browns position player to be a consistent player in fantasy football this season, but Denzel Boston bucked that trend. He's been one of the better wide receivers this year. However, his performance took a nosedive in Week 6. He caught just one pass for fifteen yards against a tenacious Baltimore Ravens defense.
Boston might not exactly be a league winner, but he's still a consistent threat for fantasy football owners. The Browns will face off against a porous Tennessee Titans defense in Week 7, giving Boston a good chance of bouncing back. Cleveland's easy schedule should help them out as well.
