The Chicago Bears' quarterback situation does not look great ahead of their Week 3 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Caleb Williams is dealing with a hamstring injury that he sustained in the 9-3 Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, while backup Tyson Bagent was placed into concussion protocol earlier in the week.
With neither quarterback having been officially ruled out for the “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Eagles, the Bears revealed that Williams and Bagent did not participate in Friday's practice. They were two of four individuals who did not practice on Friday.
Bears' Friday injury report
QB Tyson Bagent – Concussion: DNP
K Cairo Santos – Right Hip: DNP
OL Joe Thuney – NIR (Rest): DNP
QB Caleb Williams – Hamstring: DNP
LB Noah Sewell – Achilles: Limited
DB Tyrique Stevenson – Hamstring: Limited
DL Shemar Turner – Knee: Limited
DL Grady Jarrett – NIR (Rest): Full
RB Kyle Monangai – Knee: Full
The quarterback concerns initially began after Williams was carted off the field during the loss to the Vikings. It appeared to be much worse, as the 24-year-old signal-caller was in tears and pumping up the crowd as he was removed from the field. Through two games so far this season, Williams has accumulated 407 passing yards, 107 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) while completing 65.5% of his pass attempts.
If Williams nor Bagent are available for Monday, the Bears will start Case Keenum. The 38-year-old has 11 years of NFL experience under his belt, appearing in 80 games (66 starts). He has not taken the field since the 2023-24 campaign with the Houston Texans. However, Keenum has remained on active rosters (Texans in 2024-25, Bears in 2025-26) for the past two seasons, despite not seeing any game action.
