The Chicago Bears are dealing with some adversity early in the 2026 season. Bears QB Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury during the team's Week 2 loss to the Vikings. Williams will not play in Week 3, but he may not be left on the sidelines for too long.
Williams has a Grade 2 hamstring injury that doctors estimate to be a three-to-four-week injury, per ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. But that does not mean he cannot return sooner than that.
Chicago views Williams as a quick healer, so it is entirely possible that he returns ahead of schedule.
The Bears have been going to great lengths to conceal the extent of Williams' injury to gain a competitive advantage. This mysterious timeline around Williams' recovery gives the Bears another layer of protection.
Meanwhile, Case Keenum could be the starter in Week 3 with Tyson Bagent barely outside of concussion protocol.
More on this story to come.
