The Chicago Bears were in something of a dogfight with the New York Jets until they asserted themselves in the second half with a powerful running game. The Bears won their second game in a row without starting quarterback Caleb Williams and got the best of the New York Jets by a 23-12 margin.

The Bears dominated their opponents in every aspect of the game — except on the scoreboard. They outgained the Jets by a 492-157 margin. However, the Jets stopped the Bears on a pair of goal line stands early in the game, and that's the only reason the game was close in the first half.

Head coach Ben Johnson was obviously happy with his team's performance and the Bears' 3-1 record. However, he was most excited in the locker room after the game when talking to his team about their Week 5 opponent — the archrival Green Bay Packers.

“This was a great performance,” Johnson said in the locker room after the game. “We held them to 157 yards and they were 0 for 7 on third down plays. The offense held the ball for 43 minutes (42:45). We got through the first quarter of the season with a 3-1 record which is what we said we wanted to do. You know who we've got next week. That's enough said.”

The Bears are in second place in the NFC North, one game behind the undefeated Minnesota Vikings (4-0). They are also one game ahead of the Packers (2-2). The two teams will meet in Green Bay Sunday.

The Bears were able to beat their ancient rivals in two of three games last year, and they eliminated the Packers in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoffs.
