How about that for an opening game! The Chicago Bears didn't just go into Charlotte and gain a victory in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. They put on an eye-catching offensive show and scored a 59-37 triumph over the home team.

The Bears are the defending NFC North champions, and they started the season as if that achievement was just a jumping-off point for this year's team. They rode the right arm of third-year quarterback Caleb Williams and received a special performance from running backs D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai to key the offensive explosion. The Bears scored in double digits in each of the four quarters.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson said he wants his team to be a high-scoring machine as it pursues a Super Bowl championship this season.

“We want to be the highest scoring, we want to have the most wins, we want to win Super Bowls, that's what we do,” Johnson explained in his postgame news conference. “We didn't get into this profession trying to be mediocre or average. That's every NFL team. So, that is what it is. Over the course of a week, we make decisions based on what's best for our football team to win the game. That's the most important thing, and that goes into everything that we do.”

Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards with 2 TDs. He did not throw any interceptions and he also ran for 2 touchdowns. Swift and Monangai both exceeded the 100-yard mark on the ground. Monangai had a 61-yard TD run late in the third quarter while Swift had 3 rushing touchdowns.
