The Chicago Bears were hoping to bounce back from their Week 5 defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers with a victory on the road over the Atlanta Falcons. The game coincided with the return of star QB Caleb Williams to the offense and DB Kyler Gordon to the defense.

The result was just what the Bears wanted as Chicago built a big lead and held on for a 31-23 victory over the Falcons. Williams was able to show off his skills as he had a razor-sharp passing game. He completed 30 of 36 passes for 305 yards with 1 touchdown and no interceptions.

Williams returned from a hamstring injury that he suffered in a Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He showed no ill effects from that injury.

Gordon was able to play for the first time this season and he had a dramatic impact. Gordon was credited with 3.0 sacks and 4 tackles. Head coach Ben Johnson met with Gordon before the game and confirmed that he was able to play in the game. “I think we are going to activate you,” Johnson said to Gordon. “Are you ready to play the game?”

Gordon told Johnson that he was ready to play and then he went out and proved it with his performance. Johnson pointed out that Gordon's quickness and “twitchiness” played a huge role in the way he was able to contribute to the Bears' performance.

The Bears had a 31-7 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Falcons rallied on a pair of Michael Penix touchdown passes to Kyle Pitts. Gordon forced a Penix fumble on Atlanta's final possession to clinch the Chicago victory.
