On Saturday, No. 1 Texas will hit the road to face No. 15 Tennessee. It also gives Arch Manning a chance to show what he is truly made of.
With all the hype surrounding him and his potential, he has to stay focused. That is exactly what Manning did as he walked into the stadium, headphones on and all.
The Texas X, formerly Twitter, page said it all:
“QB1 is locked.”
Texas is on a roll heading into Saturday. They are 3-0 and are just coming off a historic comeback win over Ohio State. A game in which Manning played an intergral part. Altogether, he completed 23 out of 37 pass attempts for 196 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, Manning rushed for 24 yards on 8 carries.
Last weekend, the Longhorns dominated UTSA 30-6. Manning finished the game by completing 17 of 33 passes for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns.
So far, Manning has a QB rating of 71.4 with 7 touchdowns and 661 passing yards.
Manning is in his junior season at Texas and has the weight of the world on his shoulders for many reasons. Not only is he the latest star to emerge from one of the most famous football families, but he's also slated to be a top-tier pick in next year's NFL Draft.
Plus, he is trying to prove the critics wrong by maintaining a certain level of consistency. Not only that, but the Longhorns are expected to be a potential national championship contender.
In essence, Manning seems to leave no stone unturned.
Texas and Tennessee will kick off at 11:00 am CST/12:00 pm EST at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.
