This is the Raiders’ seventh season in Las Vegas, but the most successful coach in the history of Allegiant Stadium isn’t a Raiders coach. It’s Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
Reid is 6-1 at Allegiant Stadium, having won Super Bowl LVIII there as well as his Chiefs beating the Raiders five of the six times they’ve played there. That puts him in a tie for the most wins of any head coach at Allegiant Stadium, and if the Chiefs beat the Raiders on Sunday, Reid will have his seventh win in Las Vegas and have first place all to himself.
Told that at his press conference today, Reid brushed it off.
“I didn’t know that and I don’t really care,” Reid said.
Reid may not care, but it is a fairly remarkable statistic, showing not only the Chiefs’ success but the Raiders’ futility since moving to Las Vegas. The Raiders have had six head coaches in Las Vegas, and none of them won more than six home games: Jon Gruden was 4-7 at Allegiant Stadium. Rich Bisaccia was 3-3. Josh McDaniels was 6-7. Antonio Pierce was 6-8. Pete Carroll was 2-7. Klint Kubiak is 1-0.
Now Kubiak will try to make it 2-0 at Allegiant, and keep the Raiders from the embarrassment of a Chiefs coach having the most wins in their building.
