Mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam has earned his maiden ODI call-up for the upcoming tri-series, which also involves hosts UAE and Zimbabwe. Aliss, 29, has played one T20I for Bangladesh, in the Asian Games in Japan earlier this month.
Aliss has been rewarded for his impressive performances in the recent domestic competitions. He specialises in bowling with the new ball and in all, he has taken 35 wickets in 19 List A games at an average of 17.05 and economy rate of 4.05.
Litton Das also returned to the ODI side, this time as captain after the BCB had appointed him to the post in place of Mehidy Hasan Miraz in July earlier this year. Litton has impressed as the T20I captain in recent times.
Meanwhile, the board wanted to give Mehidy a break from leadership to have him focus on his all-round skills.
Hasan Mahmud also returned to the ODI squad while Nahid Rana continues rehab for a side strain. Rana last played competitive cricket in July 2026 and has since missed the Test series in Australia, Asian Games in Japan, and ongoing the one-off Test against Afghanistan. With an all-format tour of South Africa coming up next month, the selectors are managing Rana carefully.
Bangladesh will face Zimbabwe in the opening match of the ODI tri-series on October 17 in Abu Dhabi.
