On Saturday evening, the Alabama football program improved to 3-0 on the 2026 college football season with a wild 50-36 home win over the Florida State Seminoles. While the Crimson Tide got off to an ugly start to this one, trailing by double digits early on, Kalen DeBoer's squad was able to use an in-game weather delay to their advantage, flipping the script and dominating for most of the rest of the way.

After the game, DeBoer spoke about a key area of improvement for Alabama moving forward.

“Obviously got to start faster. Two games in a row now where we found ourselves behind. Different scenarios where that happened, but nonetheless we got to do a better job coming out of the gates,” he said, per Mike Rodak of Bama 247 on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, last week against the Kentucky Wildcats, Alabama found itself trailing well into the third quarter before storming back and ultimately winning in blowout fashion. While the team will certainly want to improve the way it starts games as the competition starts to ratchet up, DeBoer has to be happy with the way the Crimson Tide have been able to battle back from adversity throughout this season so far.

There's also plenty to be excited about with starting quarterback Keelon Russell, who completed 23 of his 30 pass attempts for 320 yards and three touchdowns in the win against Florida State, more than vindicating DeBoer's decision to make him the starter this year.

In any case, Alabama will next hit the field on Saturday for a home game against South Carolina. Kickoff for that matchup is set for 7:00 pm ET.
