Las Vegas Aces’ veteran point guard Chelsea Gray had a strong message for Breanna Stewart after Team USA won its fifth straight FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup title.

The Americans defeated France 97-79 in Berlin after coming back from a 14-point deficit and taking control in the second half. Stewart, who finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, was at the center of the comeback.

Her performance also earned her tournament MVP honors for the second time in her career. She became the first American to post 20 points and 10 rebounds in a World Cup final since Lisa Leslie did it in 1998.

Gray praised Stewart for the way she handled the pressure when France had control of the game. She also pointed to Stewart’s calm approach, championship experience, and ability to make the players around her better when the stakes are highest.

“She's so skilled, man. I think sometimes you get used to seeing excellence all the time and you get complacent,” Gray said via ESPN's Alexa Philippou. “You see the way she competes, the way she finishes the ball, the way she brings the team together. Things like this don't happen by accident. We've done it together a few times and I'm happy to share the court with her.”

Along with Stewart’s performance, Gray finished with 12 points and five assists, while Jackie Young added 18 points and five assists. The U.S. took over in the third quarter, outscoring France 30-12, and turned a two-point halftime deficit into a comfortable lead.

Continuing their World Cup-winning streak to 36 games unbeaten, the American women’s team beat France for their 12th overall World Cup title.
