Like many of us out here, Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown is a Potterhead as well. During his recent appearance on The Old Man and the Three with Daniel Radcliffe, Brown sorted some of his current and former teammates into Hogwarts houses.

Brown revealed his insight into the personalities of his new Philadelphia 76ers teammates by assigning them roles within the Harry Potter world, where each Hogwarts house was catered to a specific set of personalities.

According to Brown, his current 76ers teammates LeBron James and Tyrese Maxey belong to Gryffindor, while VJ Edgecombe fits with Ravenclaw and Tacko Fall suits best with Hufflepuff. He further added that his former Boston Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum and Derrick White gel well with Hufflepuff, while his former coach Joe Mazzulla belongs with Slytherin.

As Brown sorting Tatum and his former Celtics teammates into Hufflepuff caused quite a stir on social media, a fan shared an old TikTok video and claimed that Brown had always sorted his Celtics teammates, including Tatum, into Hufflepuff.

While he sorted all of his current and past teammates into Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, he chose Slytherin for himself. However, this decision confused Daniel Radcliffe, who questioned, “Seriously, I don't get this. Why does everybody want to be Slytherin?” Radcliffe, who is well known for portraying Harry Potter in all eight films, initially believed that Brown belonged to either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.

Brown stated that he disagrees with Slytherin's bad reputation, claiming that the house's link with darkness doesn't automatically mean its members are evil. “Everybody in Slytherin is not evil,” Brown said. He further described how his view of darkness influenced his life perspective. “A lot of people associate darkness with negativity,” Brown said. “But darkness is essential. Like you got to plant a seed deep in the soil for it to grow.” Brown claimed that darkness is essential to growth and life. Radcliffe finally understood Brown's point and sorted him into Slytherin.

Brown is a big Harry Potter fan and had watched all eight films during a 10-day break between playoff rounds during Boston's 2024 NBA championship run. Brown was traded from the Celtics this year to improve an already powerhouse starting lineup featuring James, Edgecombe, Maxey, and Joel Embiid.

For readers unaware, the four Hogwarts houses each signify distinct core values. Gryffindor embodies courage, bravery, and chivalry; Hufflepuff stands for loyalty, hard work, and inclusivity. In addition to these, Ravenclaw represents intelligence, wisdom, and creativity, and Slytherin denotes ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness.
