LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers once again justified the hype surrounding the team throughout the offseason after acquiring James and Jaylen Brown. Head coach Nick Nurse's team cruised past the reigning champion New York Knicks in the NBA Cup season opener behind James' another stellar performance that even caught Nurse off guard

During the postgame press conference, Nurse acknowledged that the four-time NBA champion had been performing well throughout the season. However, the 76ers head coach made it clear that James delivered his most impressive performance of the season against New York on Friday.

“I thought that he got some downhill stuff, used his size and knocked them around a little bit for some layups,” Nurse said. “I thought he obviously kind of pushed and organized. I thought he was a little quicker to make some decisions to shoot the three-ball as well.

“And then obviously a couple big plays down the stride. That's a really good best game just kind of all around. He's been good, but that was his best game for sure.”

James finished the night with 20 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds, helping the 76ers secure their first victory in the Emirates NBA Cup Group Play. His performance also placed him alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the fifth-oldest player in NBA history to record a 20-point game.

The remarkable part is that James is currently playing in his 24th NBA season, yet he continues to produce performances that come remarkably close to a triple-double against the defending champions.
