The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 home opener with the cloud surrounding owner Jed York still unresolved. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the NFL’s review of potential discipline for the 49ers principal owner could reach a conclusion “soon.”

York was absent from San Francisco’s Week 1 trip to Melbourne. He is also expected to remain away from Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins as the league continues its review. The situation stems from York’s August arrest in East Palestine, Ohio. That was where he ultimately pleaded no contest to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. He was sentenced to jail time credited as served and fined $1,150. The NFL confirmed that York’s case would be reviewed under its Personal Conduct Policy. Meanwhile, Commissioner Roger Goodell subsequently said the league would announce more when there was something to report.

The 49ers, meanwhile, enter Week 2 riding significant momentum. That's after a 27-7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne. Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes to Mike Evans, Demarcus Robinson and Deebo Samuel. San Francisco’s defense limited Los Angeles to seven points. Christian McCaffrey also helped establish the ground game. The 49ers averaged 5.8 yards per carry in the opener. Christian Kirk remains on injured reserve. However, Kyle Shanahan’s team returns to Levi’s Stadium with an opportunity to move to 2–0 against Miami. Off the field, however, attention remains fixed on York. The league has not announced a timetable or specific punishment. Current reporting indicates the review remains ongoing.
