The Los Angeles Rams fell to 2-3 on the season after a heartbreaking loss at SoFi Stadium to the Buffalo Bills that came amid a history-making Puka Nacua performance. An ultra-clutch Kyren Williams TD and an Aaron Donald fumble recovery in overtime gave the Rams a chance at the winning field goal but it was blocked, leading to a Bills game-winner.

The bottom line result was a 37-34 Bills overtime victory that had Rams fans shaking their heads and some wondering where blame should be assigned.

The Rams lost a golden opportunity to gain ground in an NFC West currently led by the undefeated San Francisco 49ers with the Arizona Cardinals set to visit on October 18.

Los Angeles played well on offense and had its moments on defense, but ultimately failed to get the job done. There is plenty of blame to go around, starting with the head coach.

Ram to blame #1: Sean McVay-

McVay deserves the blame for this loss because he is the head man in charge and the buck ultimately stops with him. He had plenty of time to get his team ready for the game but the Rams fell behind early, causing them to play catch-up which led to the game being tied at the end of regulation.

McVay's team had just seven points in the first half, an unacceptable total considering the immense talents of Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams (who passed Larry Fitzgerald with a huge feat), Puka Nacua and other stars.

They started slow against Philadelphia in Week 4 and battled back to win, but Week 5 was a different story as Stafford and McVay's team weren't able to win it in regulation.

Overtime led to a blocked field goal that put Buffalo in prime position to win the game, and now fans are wondering what McVay could have done different, and for good reason.

Ram to blame #2: Offensive Line-

The Rams' offensive line played well throughout the night, paving the way for big games from Stafford, Nacua, Williams, Blake Corum, Adams and others, but they failed kicker Harrison Mevis in overtime.

An marauding wave of Bills players collapsed the left side of the Rams' offensive line, leading to the worst play of the night for McVay's team, a blocked kicked that kept the score knotted at 34 and gave the Bills a chance to win it in the first overtime session. The Bills capitalized, and the rest is history.

Greg Rousseau got the block for Joe Brady's Bills team, causing fans to stream for the exits and Josh Allen's team to celebrate, even after a pair of disastrous James Cook fumbles.

The Rams have a solid depth chart of offensive linemen with enough experience to execute their assignments in the clutch, but they didn't get it done against the Bills. Fans will point the finger at McVay, and the offensive line, going forward as the dust settles on another loss that will sting for quite some time.

Ram to blame #3: Chris Shula

The Rams' defensive coordinator and his unit couldn't stop Allen from driving his Bills into position for the game-winning kick, leaving a bad taste in Rams fans' mouths.

Stats can be deceiving at times and that was the case with Shula's defense on Monday Night Football. The Rams gave up 436 yards, not a terrible number in the context of the 454 yards compiled by Stafford and company, but the Bills got their yardage in big chunks, to the tune of 7.6 yards per play.

Shula's unit forced two fumbles by James Cook and one interception by Allen, but there is a feeling that they could have done more to stop Buffalo from taking control of the game early, and rallying for the game-winning score in overtime. The Rams did hold the Bills to 2-of-7 third-down conversions, but it wasn't enough to get the win.

Shula's team has the experience, the talent, and athleticism to play better, and the hope now is that fans will see a better performance in Week 6 against the Cardinals. The Rams' schedule will start to ease up significantly from Week 6 onward with games against the Raiders and 0-5 Chargers also among Shula's team's upcoming games. It might be time for Shula to start getting more creative with his pressures and coverage schemes because the Rams can't continue to get gashed for big plays each week and wait for Stafford and the offense to dig them out.

McVay's team put on a show for all of America to see on Monday night, but ultimately didn't get the win. He and his staff deserve to shoulder the blame as the 2-3 Rams will be forced to reevaluate some things going forward.
