The Chicago White Sox can secure their first postseason series-clinching win at home in 120 years Wednesday when they host the Cleveland Guardians in Game 3 of the ALDS.

The White Sox lead the best-of-five series 2-0 after taking both games in Cleveland and needs one more victory to reach the ALCS for the first time since 2005. That possibility carries extra meaning for former White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski, a member of the franchise’s 2005 World Series championship team.

Foul Territory took to X, formerly Twitter, Wednesday with a clip of Pierzynski explaining why a home clincher would mean so much to the organization and its fans.

“Oh, 2005, we won, but we won everything on the road. We clinched the division on the road. We won the DS on the road. We won the LCS on the road, and we won the World Series on the road. So the White Sox fans have never had one of these, basically, in anybody’s lifetime at home.”
