Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion predictions
For the second weekend running, Arsenal will play after Manchester City. That means Mikel Arteta’s men could be bumped down to second place by the time their clash with Brighton & Hove Albion kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.
City travel to Nottingham Forest in the day’s early kick-off, when they will be hoping to turn a two-point deficit into a one-point advantage at the top of the table.
Pep Guardiola’s side are in fine form and have closed the gap at the summit of the standings in recent weeks after Arsenal dropped points against Sunderland, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
It was vital that the Gunners responded last weekend after City briefly overtook them. They duly got the job done at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, controlling the game against Everton and emerging triumphant courtesy of a Viktor Gyokeres penalty.
There was more good news in midweek, as Arsenal advanced to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup by beating Crystal Palace.
A 1-1 draw after 90 minutes led to a penalty shoot-out which was concluded when Maxence Lacroix missed his effort after 15 perfect penalties preceded his.
Palace had rallied in the second half, but Arsenal were the better team in regulation time despite shuffling their pack amid the busy festive period.
The EFL Cup might be low on the list of the club’s priorities this term, but Arsenal have not won a trophy since 2020 and they are not in a position to turn their nose up at any piece of silverware.
“I’m very happy. We’re in the semi-final, it’s where we wanted to be,” Arteta said after Tuesday’s encounter at the Emirates Stadium. “I’m really happy, and I’m really happy considering the amount of changes that we’ve done, the cohesion and the energy and the quality that the team showed against a team that is very, very well organised and concedes very few chances.”
Arsenal will now be seeking more success on home turf in their penultimate match of 2025. Aston Villa will visit north London on Tuesday, so it is essential that Arteta’s charges do not drop any points against Brighton.
The Seagulls have gone off the boil of late, failing to win any of their last four matches and scoring in only two of those games. However, they are potentially dangerous opponents if Arsenal are not fully focused on the task at hand.
Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion betting tips
Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion will go at it in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Arsenal to edge tight game
At this time of year, results are more important than performances. When the games come thick and fast, it is vital to find a way to win, even if it is not especially pretty.
That is particular pertinent for Arsenal given Manchester City and Aston Villa are now hot on their heels.
Arsenal’s last two victories, over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton, both came by a one-goal margin.
In total the Gunners have triumphed by the odd goal six times in the Premier League this term. They have been more dominant in the Champions League, but back home they have developed a knack for edging tight matches.
We expect Arsenal to demonstrate that quality again on Saturday.

Brighton can bag
Brighton have drawn a blank twice in December, failing to score against either Liverpool (a 2-0 defeat) or Sunderland (a 0-0 draw).
Fabian Hurzeler’s team were subpar against Sunderland, but they did create opportunities against Liverpool and will probably do so at the Emirates Stadium too.
Arsenal have not looked quite as defensively secure as usual in recent weeks, keeping only two clean sheets in their last seven top-flight outings.
Brighton sometimes struggle against low defensive blocks, but they will be afforded plenty of space in this one.

Trossard to find net
Gabriel Martinelli had a fantastic first half against Crystal Palace on Tuesday before injury forced him off at the interval.
That leaves the path clear for Leandro Trossard to start on the left against his former club.
Trossard is having an excellent season. He has scored six goals in all competitions, putting him behind only Gyokeres and Bukayo Saka in the Arsenal charts.
The Belgium international comes alive in the penalty area and we like his chances of getting on the scoresheet against Brighton.
Tip Leandro Trossard to score any time at 7/4 with Betfred
