Arsenal vs Brentford predictions
There are two ways of interpreting Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The first viewpoint states that it was a missed opportunity for Mikel Arteta’s men. Moises Caicedo was sent off in the 38th minute, giving Arsenal a numerical advantage for more than half of the match.
Yet they could not make the most of those favourable circumstances. Arsenal fell behind when Trevoh Chalobah nodded home from a corner. A Mikel Merino header restored parity, but Chelsea more than held their own despite having one fewer player on the pitch.
In that light, a point was a disappointing outcome for Arsenal and one which meant their lead at the summit of the standings was trimmed to four points at the weekend.
A more positive take would give Arsenal credit for getting something from a tricky game. Chelsea were bang at it throughout Sunday’s showdown at Stamford Bridge. They played with real intensity and were bold after Caicedo’s red card. Arsenal had to dig deep and show resolve.
Arteta’s side were also without their two starting centre-backs, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. On top of that, Riccardo Calafiori was withdrawn at half-time, leaving Arsenal without three-quarters of their first-choice defence.
There is merit to both arguments, but given how well Arsenal have done in recent weeks, a 1-1 draw at Chelsea should not be considered a bad result.
It maintained the Gunners’s six-point advantage over their London rivals, and while Manchester City are closer to Arsenal than they were before the weekend, the bookies still have Arteta’s team down as clear favourites to finish the season in top spot.
“That’s the feeling that we have, and the standards that we set to ourselves,” the Arsenal boss said when asked if he was minded to take the positives from the match.
“Probably it’s because of the spirit, the hunger and how much they want it, that it’s so incredible we’ll overcome everything. So many things have happened, but we have to prepare very well for Wednesday, and try to be better than Brentford.”
The Bees will see this as something of a free hit. They are going along nicely under Keith Andrews and will look to take advantage of the fact that all the pressure is on Arsenal.

Arsenal vs Brentford betting tips
Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways when Brentford visit the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal prize solidity
Arsenal will again be without Saliba and Gabriel in midweek, leaving Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie to continue their partnership at the heart of the backline.
Both are talented defenders, but Arsenal’s backline is patently weaker without Saliba and Gabriel in it.
A strong defensive record is not just about personnel, however, and there are reasons to believe Arsenal will keep a clean sheet on Wednesday.
For one, they will dominate possession and limit the opportunities that Brentford have to get the ball in dangerous areas.
Secondly, it is worth noting that more than 70 percent of Brentford’s goals this season have come at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Tough night for Brentford
Brentford have been terrific on familiar soil this term. Only Manchester City have collected more points at home than Andrews’s side.
It has been a different story on the road, however, with Brentford sitting 17th in the away table. Only Wolverhampton Wanderers have picked up fewer points on their travels.
Brentford have struggled to keep the back door shut at rival stadiums, conceding 12 goals in six away games.
Arsenal are starting to get attackers back from injury and that spells trouble for Brentford on Wednesday night. The Gunners can make the net bulge either side of the interval.

Gyokeres ready to contribute
Merino has done an excellent job of deputising for Viktor Gyokeres up front during the Swedish striker’s recent spell on the sidelines.
When you watch his movement and positioning at the top of the pitch, you would be forgiven for forgetting Merino is a central midfielder by trade.
With the Spaniard having proved effective in that role, Gyokeres is by no means guaranteed to start every game as Arsenal’s centre-forward.
Having said that, this feels like the ideal game to bring back the former Sporting CP frontman from the start.
Gyokeres is no Erling Haaland, but he has already shown he can score goals in games Arsenal are expected to win.
