‘Are they rigging this?’ – Furious Colts fans tear into officials after extra-point controversy

The Indianapolis Colts saw two huge calls go against them in a vital divisional showdown with the Houston Texans.

With the game tied at 13-13, the Texans drive looked to have stalled until a defensive pass interference call kept it alive.

Wide receiver Nico Collins ended up rushing in a touchdown to put his team 19-13 ahead.

To add insult to injury for Indianapolis, Ka’imi Fairbairn’s extra-point was ruled good despite appearing to slide outside the right upright.

“That did not look good,” said a stunned Ian Eagle on the play-by-play call for CBS.

“Colts fans, go grab a drink real quick. That was a tough sequence,” added Texans icon JJ Watt, who was beside him in the booth.

Boos rang out in the stadium and Colts fans added to the anger on social media.

“We’ve had bad pass interference calls all weekend and some missed PI calls. But the one in the Texans-Colts game was very bad. Blatant disregard of the rule when legs get tangled. And on top of that they missed a delay of game before the ball was snapped,” wrote one.

“The Texans get gifted a touchdown after a horrible pass interference call earlier on the drive and then they rule this a good extra point. Are they rigging this NFL game? The Colts fans are rightfully booing the refs,” added another.

“Handed seven points,” fumed a third.

Rules analyst Gene Steratore confirmed that as the kick was above the uprights, it could not be reviewed.

“By rule, the entire ball must be inside the outside edge of the upright,” he added.

The Colts hit a field goal to move within four points of their AFC South rivals but quarterback Daniel Jones — playing on a broken leg — couldn’t lead a comeback.

Sunday’s result sees the Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars on 8-4 with the Texans a game back on 7-3.
