AI predicts when Erling Haaland will break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record after 100-goal heroics

Erling Haaland is set to make light work of Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record, according to AI.

The Manchester City goal machine became the fastest player in the league’s history to hit the 100-goal mark, when he brought up his century in a 5-4 win over Fulham on Wednesday night.

Haaland took just 111 top-flight games to reach the milestone, as he found the net after just 17 minutes at Craven Cottage.

All-time record goalscorer Shearer, who netted 260 goals, has now been usurped, as he reached the same figure in 124 matches.

And if AI is to be believed, it won’t be too long before the Newcastle icon concedes another piece of history to Haaland.

How many games?

With the Norwegian superstar scoring at a staggering rate of more than 0.9 goals per game in the Premier League, it’s hard to predict just how soon his next goalscoring landmark could come.

That’s why talkSPORT asked Gemini to try and predict when Haaland could break the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring record.

And the response didn’t disappoint, with AI predictions tipping him to obliterate Shearer’s 260-goal return in just 287 games.

According to analysis carried out by the AI chatbot, Haaland will achieve the feat on the assumption that he continues scoring at his current rate.

It also works on the assumption that he will continue to play his average number of games per season, which is roughly 31 matches.

Should Haaland live up to AI’s bold prediction, he would equal Shearer’s record in the second half of the 2029/30 season.

He would also bring up the huge figure in an astonishing 154 fewer games than the Premier League’s current record holder.

This of course all depends on the 25-year-old steering clear of any injuries serious injuries, or departing Man City for another club.

But the chances of the latter look to be slim, considering he penned a lucrative new nine-and-a-half year deal in January, which will keep him him at the Etihad until 2034.

This leaves Haaland plenty of time to accumulate many more goals if his form and fitness hold.

And the AI prediction doesn’t even consider another terrifying prospect – that he could reach Shearer’s milestone in less than 287 games.

According to Gemini, if Haaland manages to maintain his 2025/26 goalscoring rate in years to come, this is a genuine possibility.

How has Haaland’s Premier League career gone?

The Norway striker has been in frightening form this term, notching 15 goals already in just 14 Premier League games.

It leaves him on course to win another Golden Boot, which would be his third since joining Man City in 2022.

Haaland won the award with an incredible 36 goals in his debut campaign, before claiming it again with 27 in 2023/24.

Last term was an off one by his high standards, as he finished third in the scoring charts with 22 goals for the season.

On top of his now 100 Premier League goals, Haaland also has 19 assists to his name in the top flight.

He tasted league glory twice with the Citizens, winning the league title in each of his first two years in England, before finishing a disappointing third last term.
