$180m NFL star lands new job with ESPN after impressing on College GameDay

Aidan Hutchinson will still be involved in the NFL in Week 19.

His Detroit Lions team won’t be, though, after they failed to make the postseason after a disappointing 9-8 season, good enough for last place in the NFC North.

Hutchinson, however, will be part of ESPN’s crew on wild card weekend, as it’s been announced the star defensive end will feature in the network’s ‘Postseason NFL Countdown’ show.

The show precedes NFL games and Hutchinson is expected to be on broadcasting duties on both Saturday and Sunday alongside the likes of Mike Greenberg.

It comes after the 25-year-old appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay back in November,

ESPN made the announcement just a day after the Detroit LionsThanksgiving loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Hutchinson, a former Wolverine, was on hand for Michigan’s 27-9 loss to Ohio State in its final game of the regular season at Michigan Stadium.

The All American talent was a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 2021 with Michigan after setting the school’s single-season sack record with 14.

Hutchinson declared for the 2022 NFL Draft and went to the Lions second overall.

NFL's Greatest......

Ranking the top 10......

Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?

Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?

Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and more

Tight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?

Since then, the 25-year-old from Plymouth, Michigan, has dominated as a pro, with 43 sacks in just under four seasons.

How much does Aidan Hutchinson make?

His form was rewarded with a bumper $180 million extension in October as Detroit moved to tie down its key pieces after emerging as a Super Bowl contender.

His terms include $141 million in total guarantees and, at $45 million per season, he tops all non-quarterbacks.

“There’s a lot of factors that went into it, but ultimately, I know I wanted to be in Detroit and that was the goal,” Hutchinson told ESPN.

“Obviously, as a player, you have a responsibility when you’re in the echelon of players that I’m in to continue to push the market up, but was it at the expense of continuing to draw this process out and try to get an extra $1 [million] or $2 [million] or get above Micah [Parsons] or whatever it was.

“To me, it was important that we got it done and I was here. That was kind of the priority.”
